I don’t want to defend them but I do like their show. The fact that I like their show doesn’t mean they’re not racist. I don’t really like hearing blatantly racist bits on the radio. I know that Opie & Anthony are incredibly derogatory in the morning, who are on the same radio station, but I don’t think you hear about it much. In fact, if you listen to the whole line-up, throughout the day, you’ll find that all of them, who are all white (except for one black guy on The Radio Chick show), are rather racist but either do it because they think it’s their right to because of the freedom of speech or because they’re actually just racist. None of them will EVER admit they’re racist but they are. Believe me.

In New York City, all these talk show radio guys are consolidated into this one station, 92.3 Free FM. I also listen to Howard Stern and yes, sometimes he’ll make a joke about a race but when I listen to it, it’s never as abrasive as the way some of these 92.3 Free FM hosts come off. In a way I’m glad that the nation is responding to this but at the same time I would still like the option of listening to their show if and when I have free time.

Personally, I think they can still be funny without making fun of black people, asian people or irish people. Doghouse!?

Add: They’ll always argue that the listeners have the option to turn off their radio station if they don’t want to hear what they’re saying but the thing is if you’re a black guy and you’ve already HEARD the racist remarks because you were tuned in, then turning the radio off can’t really reverse that. The damage has been done. I mean, these radio douches can’t get mad that their show is off the air. The group they offended is just responding by complaining (just as the radio hosts are exercising their free speech rights) and by saying all this stuff on the radio, it gives these groups the opportunity to speak out.
