Economy ↓, Streetwear ↓

Alright all you streetwear, sneaker, streetwear-related companies with your colorful T-shirts, hats and unnecessary accessories: With the U.S. economy looking bleak, you might all bust unless you position yourself correctly.

Whenever I hear the economy doing poorly and then I find that luxury brands are doing well, I get baffled. The thing is, when the U.S. economy isn’t doing so well, such is the case now, the U.S. dollar weakens and people all over the world buy luxury items from the U.S. They’re not going to buy mediocre/generic goods, or atleast goods perceived to be mediocre, they’re going to buy the best, at a discount. A company like STpL will probably come through at the end versus some small label like ANEWYORKTHING. This is just my guess, or as I would like to call it “ABSOLUTE IRREFUTABLE FACT.”

For clothes that’s called streetwear, it is way too expensive and during times of economic decline, people are going to buy less from Stüssy and more from Targét. Let’s wait and see.

Future of Elmo!

I have never done this but I am going to predict the future right now. Several months from now, pot smokers or acid users will without a doubt get into unfortunate gun accidents, at home, after having done their drug of choice and then finding their little brother’s/sister’s new elmo toy walking around the house telling stories:

Rest in Peace, HD DVD

Everyone already knows this, right? HD DVD is out, Bluray is in. I’m not saying go onto your eTrade account and buy tons of Sony stock, but buy maybe half a ton, or atleast a quarter. Okay, that’s saying too much. This bodes well for Sony who owns the rights to Bluray but understandably Sony is still doing pretty shitty with countless competitors “ripping they ass up.” Fo’ sho, fo’ sho. What can I say? I writes classy.

Winner = Sony
Loser = Anyone who bought a HD DVD player or a HD DVD burner, XBOX 360, the entire entertainment industry because they had to wait until now to up production on HD quality movies, the porno industry, etc.

I’m just kidding, the porno industry NEVER loses.

Stop tagging me.

Ever since I started blogging I found that people who blog love to go onto other people’s blogs and leave their mark. Forget all the Myspaces or Facebooks. If you have a blog, THAT becomes your personal page and the Internet is your playground. You’re not limited to the rules set by companies like Facebook or Myspace. You do what you want. Anyway, this is what people are doing now? Tagging? It’s like tag but with blogs, kindof. I guess you just link people. I don’t know. This is my first and final tag. Don’t bother me. Here’s to you Tonya of (my favorite) the black celebrity gossip genre, Mrs. Grapevine.

Is the picture embarrassing? I’d like to think maybe just a little.

Soft Maniacs: Teeth

I remember reading this years ago and loving it. Then, I read all her books. Then, I gave them all away. Here, take a listen, maybe you’ll like it: Listen

Default Post: Off Bowery!

It’s a “default post” because I feel like I’m almost required, by default, to post this. I like the Trump quotation.

Art: Throwback to Yue Minjun!

throwback-yue.jpg

I noticed that people are using the word “throwback” in place of the pejorative “copy.” Well, here’s an issue of Milk magazine from Hong Kong, with Jan Lamb (Lamdog [giggle like a school girl]) on the cover, with a throwback? throwing back? uhh… to the prolific Chinese artist Yue Minjun (click the name for my previous post on him). I don’t know how saturated (mainlaind) Chinese art is in Hong Kong but that’s pretty interesting. It’s interesting because it seemed, when I was working there, that Hong Kong has an affinity to avoid cultural influences from mainland PRC.

Here’s the thing.

Here’s the thing. If you’re a guy, you DO NOT, bold, underlined, want to look hot wearing a wig or make-up or whatever, a dress… et cetera. I have seen men walking down the street who aren’t dressed up like women and they look beautiful and I get all confused.

I am lucky I do not look attractive. I don’t have any borderline female features, except well… I have been eating pretty poorly these last few months and it just seems like I’m getting titties. But that’s not what I mean.
